In 2009, I opened and art gallery named Bricks and Bombs. It was to metaphorically meant to represent a place in the local Baton Rouge art community where a scene could be created, cultivated and supported by the walls of the gallery (the Bricks) and simultaneously a place where ideas could be challenged and possibly destroyed if necessary, (the Bombs). In less than 800 sq ft. a very special thing happened. People connected with others, thoughts were shared and a badge was made that symbolized an idea that the only rules were that: There are No Rules. From a name and space, the “brand” of Bricks and Bombs was born. That unexpected resonance gave birth to events, products and collaborations with other artists.
